It was a silent night,
darkness darker than a night,
the silence only broken by a wail,
or a distant child’s cry,
even the creatures of the night,
crickets calling on crickets kept mute,
for though it was dark,
darker deeds had been done!

man stood against man,
age-old grudges refreshed,
logic took leave,
barbarism portrayed by the lens,
streams became veins,
the figures rose each day,
for the love of power,
we lost not just honour,
but sisters and brothers too.

Its now two on the count,
time to sit back and seek peace,
at heart forgive and forget,
feel the shame and show love,
make a firm affirmation,
to officiate the healing,
for all said and little done,
we acted silly,
hence,
the need to reconcile quickly.
