I am a great fan of Christopher Hart so I subscribe to his weekly article on relationships. On his latest one he talked about extroverts vs introverts and the way of lives these two types of people lead. That got me thinking because according to him in the modern world extroverts are more likely to succeed than the introverts .Some case situations include politics and salesmanship.
This reminds of something that happened a while ago. There was this girl who was kind of very skeptical about being in a relationship because she had just been in one and had been heartbroken so all she wanted to do was to enjoy being alone and the freedom that came along with it. This did not mean that she was actually not being pursued by anybody, because in the real sense there were two guys who were hitting on her, your guess? Just as good as mine: a cool guy who preferred one on one conversations and an extremely active one who liked to think his ideas aloud.
If you have been watching a lot of romantic movies or soap operas you are either thinking that she went for the cool guy when you are supposed to be sympathizing with him. Fast forward to drama time, one thing led to another and the girl found herself looking for comfort after she had been abandoned. The guy left at a speed that would make participants in a dating reality show green with envy.
What am trying to bring out here is that, we all have been misled by the extrovert’s first impression into thinking that they are any better that their counterparts. An interviewer may prefer somebody who looks to know just about everything during the selection process only to be struck by a serious wave of reality when they realize it was just but a smokescreen.
Luckily each and every personality has a suiting job description or suiting lifestyle for that matter, there are some kind of jobs which require total participation in terms of how you speak, others full concentration without saying a single word. A word of encouragement too to the introverts especially the guys, just know there are more of your type from the female species and bearing in mind that the birds of feather flock together you never have to worry about a thing.
So back to the question, is it really an extrovert’s world for the taking? I don’t think so, whereas they might be initially preferred, time as they say tells it all and brings out the best in anyone whether an extrovert or introvert, saving the best for the last.
